10 persons injured during mayhem in Abeokuta

The thugs attacked the INEC center during the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in St. Mary African Church Primary School, Oke-Efon, Abeokuta at about 10am with weapons

On sighting the thugs, the INEC officer and a Policewoman attached to the center took to their heels.

10 persons were reported to have sustained injuries during the mayhem, while others were disposed of mobile phones, cash and other valuables.

An NGO in the state, Women Advocates Research and Documentation Center, WARDC, said the incident shows that INEC was not prepared for the 2015 general elections.

Meanwhile, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Sam Olumekun, has described the incident as a skirmish, but said the situation had been brought under control.
