FUNAAB to Matriculate 3,500 Students


About 3,500 fresh students would participate in the 2014/2015 Matriculation Ceremony of the University, scheduled to hold on, January 28, 2015, at the FUNAAB Ceremonial Building, beginning 10am.


The students cut across the ten Colleges of the University, namely: the College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD); College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM); College of Engineering (COLENG); College of Environmental Resources Management (COLERM); College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC); College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT); College of Veterinary Medicine (COLVET); College of Management Sciences (COLMAS), as well as the newly-established College of Biological Sciences (COLBIOS) and College of Physical Sciences (COLPHYS), which were carved-out from the former College of Natural Sciences (COLNAS). Matriculating students, their parents and guests are expected to be seated by 9.30am.

Meanwhile, the Third Commencement Lecture of the University, which would formally kick-start the new Academic Session, will hold as part of the Matriculation Ceremony.lecture,, "Promoting Youth

Entrepreneurship in Nigerian Universities: Students' Choices, Nigeria's Legacy", would be delivered by Mrs. Folusho Olaniyan, the Chief Executive, Contact Consulting Nigeria Limited. A financial expert and seasoned administrator, Mrs Olaniyan started her career as a Management Trainee with the AG Leventis Nigeria Plc in 1988 and rose to become Branch Manager and later, Head of Sales and Marketing in 2002. She later joined UTC Nigeria Plc in 2005 and based on her impressive performance, she was made the Managing Director/CEO in 2007.

At UTC, she spearheaded an impressive turnover growth and in 2012, under her leadership, the company pioneered the commercialisation of cassava bread in Nigeria. In 2014, she sets up Contact Consulting Nigeria Limited, a firm that is focused on marketing, strategy and researching into emerging markets.

The Vice-Chancellor and President, Association of African Universities (AAU), Professor Olusola Oyewole, is expected to chair the Ceremony.
