N200,000 is not enough for me to anchor an event - Ali Baba


Atunyota Alleluya Akporobomerere, stage name Ali Baba, is a Nigerian stand-up comedian.

The Veteran comedian, in a recent interview stated that he cannot share the same stage where younger comedians who are suppose to be making a living from. Adding that he cannot be going for events where he will be paid N200,000 to anchor.

“People expect me to be jumping up and down the stage at the kind of events that the younger comedians should be seen performing. They forget that it gets to a point in life when even the Inspector-General of Police will not be seen checking the particulars of motorists at checkpoints, yet he is still in the Nigerian Police Force.

“People expect that I should be attending those weddings and public events where comedians are paid about N200,000 to anchor. Of course, I won’t be there,” he told Punch.

Ali baba started the stand-up comedy in Nigeria and has graced many events with jokes that has made many laugh or make many faire back at him but all was worth the while.

He has been a professional stand up comedian for the past 22 years and has in the last 13 years received several awards.
